Dance Community Evening - Tuesday 17th June 2024
Tuesday 17th June 2024 - 6pm - 8pm at Newcastle College, Studio PA201
It’s DANE’s Birthday. Join us from 6pm to celebrate a journey of a year, and chat about what you want from DANE in the next year.
Technique Class from 6:30 - 8:00 with Alyssa Lisle.
Alyssa is a movement artist, performer, and facilitator based in Newcastle upon Tyne. Passionate about her roots, Alyssa is committed to fostering talent and building connections within the North East dance community. Her artistic practice deeply values joy, commitment and community . Over the past 10 years, she has worked with companies such as Rendez-Vous Dance, Southpaw Dance Company, Level Centre, and Fertile Ground, contributing to a rich portfolio spanning performance, direction, and facilitation. As part of her facilitation practice, Alyssa’s research focuses on physical and holistic approaches that support a dancer’s training, exploring how these practices shift and evolve in response to the specific demands of the work they are engaging with.
Alyssa's class focuses on creating space for individuality and freedom for the dancer. Described as a 'holiday in the body', the class places choices at the forefront of the session to offer open exploration and chances to connect.
The class begins tuning into where the body has arrived that day, and encouraging moving from that place through release- based movement that encourage flow and groove. Promising lots of funky moves and funkier tunes!
